If you buy an 883 the other Harley riders will call it a girls bike or worse and you wont be. The 883 is a smaller bore engine built on the same bottom end and driveline as the 1200 so even though its the hardest working engine in the fleet the rest of the bike is built to handle a lot more torque and power so in that light I would say its probably one of the most reliable of Harleys fleet. Dynamically it has its limits.

The first few rides during break-in the engine would leak oil from the air cleaner housing. You can put the 250 kit in your 883. The only difference between a 1200 and an 883 is the bore.

The Harley 883 is a model of Harley Davidsons Sportster that generates roughly 45HP and 42Ftlbs at the rear wheel stock has a maximum lean angle of about 30 degrees to either side is well build and will treat you extremely nicely and has several variants mainly affecting ground clearance seat types and tire sizes. Among the Harley community the Sportster is generally and derogatorily called a girls bike because its the smallest of the three Harley engine families. With its 900cc engine actually 883 it is big enough and powerful and more than fast enough for me.
